Non-urgent advice: Please Note
This means when you need help, you’ll be asked to fill in a short online form. Our duty doctor will review the information you give and make sure your request goes to the best person to help you.
You may receive advice by phone or text, be sent a booking link to see a doctor, nurse, or another healthcare professional, or be directed to a different service if that’s faster for your needs.
This system helps us offer appointments based on medical need, making it fairer and ensuring everyone gets the right care at the right time.
If you need a nursing appointment, please call us on 01442 213 919 or visit reception in person — you don’t need to complete the online form for these.

How to request an appointment
To ask for an appointment, please fill in the online form “I want help for a medical request” or use the NHS App.
Our online form is open between 8am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Requests received BEFORE 5pm will be reviewed on the same working day
- Requests received AFTER 5pm will be reviewed on the next working day
- Do NOT use this form if you are experiencing an emergency or urgent symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, or sudden weakness. If it is an emergency, call 999 or go to your nearest Accident & Emergency (A&E) department immediately.

Our reception team can fill in the form for you, or you can ask a trusted friend or relative to help.
If you need a nurse appointment, you can still call us or visit reception — there’s no need to fill in the form for these.
When our phone lines are busy, use the Patient Callback option (press 1). You can hang up and we’ll automatically call you back when it’s your turn.
Please note — we don’t offer a walk-in service.
If we’re closed and you need help, please call NHS 111, or in an emergency dial 999.

When we’re open
Our core hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:30pm. These are the times when the surgery is open and our staff are available.
During these times, you can:
- Request an appointment via our online form
- Telephone the surgery
- Visit reception
We are also open on Saturdays from 8am until 12noon for patients attending pre-booked appointments or for reception enquiries.
Some evening and weekend appointments are available through our Extended Access Service.
If you are offered one of these, we’ll let you know the time and the location of your appointment.
If you need help when we’re closed, please call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk for advice.
In an emergency, call 999.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- By phone
- Face to face at the surgery
- On a video call
- By text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Pharmacy First
Pharmacists can give you advice on a range of conditions and suggest medicines that can help.
They may also be able to offer treatment and some prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP (this is called Pharmacy First). Conditions they can treat as part of Pharmacy First are:
- earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
- impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
- shingles (aged 18 years and over)
- sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
- urinary tract infections or UTIs (women aged 16 to 64 years)
If you go to a pharmacy with one of these conditions, the pharmacist will offer you advice, treatment or refer you to a GP or other healthcare professional if needed.
They will then update your GP health record.
If you are not within these age ranges, a pharmacist can still offer advice, but you may need to see a GP for treatment.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Home visits
If you are housebound and would like to request an appointment, please let us know by 11.am by completing our online form or calling reception on: 01442 213919.
We will phone you first to ask for some details relating to your illness and to understand what help you require.
Please consider the need for a home visit, as in most cases care is provided more quickly and effectively in the surgery where a more complete assessment is possible.
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help when we are closed, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
