Blood Tests / Phlebotomy

Location

The phlebotomy clinic in Hemel Hempstead is situated in the Marnham Wing, Hillfield Road (approximately 50m from the entrance to Iceland/Asda).

All patients must take a paper copy of their blood test form with them.

Booking

West Herts Hospital Trust have now introduced an online booking system for booking blood tests, and no longer operates as a ‘walk-in’ clinic.

Please note: Patients should only select Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, or Watford locations. Otherwise, your results may not be automatically sent to your GP if you visit a location outside the trust.

Babies and children up to the age of 17

Hospitals at Hemel Hempstead Hospital, St Albans City Hospital and Watford General Hospital can see children aged from 5-17. Book a blood test appointment using the links above.

Children under five years-old

Can only be seen at the Peace Children’s Centre in Watford. They can also see children up to the age of 12. Register and book a blood test appointment at Peace Children’s Centre.

Haematology and anticoagulation patients

Haematology and anticoagulation patients do not need to book online as they will continue to receive clinic appointment letters.

Glucose Tolerance Tests (GTT)

Glucose Tolerance Tests (GTT) are only taken at Hemel Hempstead Hospital on Thursday mornings. Appointments to be booked by telephone only. Contact details are on the referral form.
