Interpreter and Translation Services
We provide free interpreting services for patients using GP and NHS Hospital services in England, including support for people who are deaf or deaf/blind. Our service ensures that all patients can communicate effectively and receive the care they need.
We work with Absolute Interpreting & Translations to provide professional language support. All interpreting and translation services are delivered with full confidentiality, security, and accuracy.
Interpreters and Cultural Awareness
Medical interpreters are also trained to understand the cultural context and traditions of patients. This ensures that messages are communicated clearly, using the correct cultural expressions associated with the target language.
Important
- Children are not allowed to act as interpreters during appointments.
- An interpreter will be arranged by a member of the practice team or hospital department.
Difference Between Interpretation and Translation
Interpretation: Spoken or signed communication in real time during appointments
Translation: Written conversion of documents from one language to another
Requesting an Interpreter
Extra time is needed for appointments involving interpreters.
If you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel—this allows other patients to use the service.
If you are running late, let us know—other patients may need the interpreter.
