Named GP: Meet the team
After registering with us, you’ll receive a text message informing you of your allocated named GP.
The role of the named GP is primarily one of oversight, providing reassurance that a specific GP is responsible for coordinating your care. However, this does not prevent you from consulting with other doctors or healthcare professionals within the practice, subject to their availability.
Please note that your named GP may not always be available. If you have urgent needs, you may need to consult with a different doctor.
How to book an appointment
Please note: Fernville does not offer a walk-in service.
From Monday 10th March 2025, Fernville has introduced ‘Total Triage’.
Total triage means that all patients requiring an urgent OR routine GP appointment is triaged (or screened) by a clinician first. To request an appointment you will need to complete an online form via our website or the NHS App. The information you provide will help us provide you with the right medical care, with the right person at the right time.
If you’re unable to complete the form online or don’t have access to a mobile or computer, please call us on 01442 213 919, and our reception team will be happy to assist you.
At peak times, our phone lines may be busy. If this happens, we recommend using the ‘Patient Callback’ feature. Simply select option 1 in appointments, which allows you to ring off, keep your place in the queue and automatically receive a call back when it’s your turn.
The introduction of Total Triage is now recommended by NHS England to improve access for patients. This change also brings us in line with other practices in the area and aims to help us manage increasing demand on our services.
How to request a prescription
The fastest and easiest way to order a repeat prescription is through the NHS App. This convenient service allows you to order your prescription anytime, day or night, and sends your request directly to your GP for approval.
Please note that, for safety reasons, we do not accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Patient Participation Group Membership
The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteer patients who work with the practice team to help improve services and ensure the patient voice is heard. Every GP practice is required by the NHS to have a PPG.
All patients permanently registered with the practice are automatically enrolled into the Patient Participation Group, unless they choose to opt out via the registration form. This includes those who opted in to join the group before October 2024.
At Fernville, we also have a smaller core team within the PPG called the Liaison Group. This group meets occasionally to discuss ideas and feedback.
